A Stone Of Hope Prophetic Religion And The Death Of Jim...
Speaking from the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C, the face of the National Civil Rights Movement delivered, arguably, the most renowned and recited speech of the past sixty years. The infamous ââ¬ËI Have a Dreamââ¬â¢ speech. In this historic moment, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr famously stated, ââ¬Å"he was going back to the South with faith that his people could hew a stone of hope from a mountain of despair.â⬠(1) An effort considered by many to be the greatest, most successful social movement in our nationââ¬â¢s history, the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s-60s ushered in accomplishments of equality in areas of social issues and liberal ideology at pace never witnessed before in American society. In A Stone of Hope: Prophetic Religion and the Death of Jim Crow, author David L. Chappell analyzes how this feat was accomplished in such a short period. In doing so, Chappell reconsiders the roots of the movement itself and comes to a shocking conclusion. Rather giving credit to the success of the movement to black leaders and northern liberals, Chappell argues that it was actually the neutrality of the southern, white churches that helped to steer our country toward an era of national change. (5) ââ¬Å"Unlike white southern social conservatives before and after them, segregationists in the 1950s-60s tended to identify their own white southern churches as the enemy.â⬠(5) According to Chappell, this was the ââ¬Å"Achillesââ¬â¢ heelâ⬠for segregationists during the movement. System Analysis Of My Health Record Samples â⬠MyAssignmenthelp.com
Question: Discuss about the System Analysis Of My Health Record. Answer: Introduction The project My Health Record system has been undertaken by the Commonwealth Government of Australia with an aim of improving the quality of patient care. This new system is expected to reduce several issues, which includes unavailability of the important information associated with a patients health. This project will provide a much needed reformation in the existing system will also address the escalating costs of the health care (Pearce Bainbridge, 2014). The vision document that is to be prepared for the project outlines the problems, capabilities and the benefits of the project. Problems The major problem with the existing system is that it becomes very difficult for the physicians to track the health summary of a patient as it is a time consuming task to go through each and every manual documents in order to have a detailed understanding of the patients health. With the increasing use of technology and innovation in everydays work, it becomes essential to innovate the process of providing medical services to the patient. Furthermore, it becomes very much difficult for the people in rural areas to receive proper medical treatment. This new system is expected to revolutionize the process of providing medication to the patients (Thilakanathan et al., 2014). The health summary option will be a great help to the physicians to understand the health condition of the patient. Another major problem associated with the manual record keeping is its maintenance. It is problematic for the hospital authorities to manually record and keep the data of every patient. It increases th e risk of data inconsistency. Manually stored data is not as efficient as the electronic record, which is easier to access. The project is expected to provide a much needed reform in the traditional ways of providing medical services to the clients. Capabilities The new health care system My Health Record system that is to be developed is capable of revolutionizing the ways of doing business. The system will be capable of providing a digital summary of the health information of a particular person so that it becomes easier for the physicians to provide required medication services to the patients (Koh, et al., 2013). The system although deals with the storage of health information of patients over internet, it is completely secure as the confidential information of the patient will be secured by proper authorization. The information will be accessed by the person whom the patient gives access to the health information. The system will be developed with the highest level of security so that the patients can trust the system with their sensitive and confidential health information. The patients record will be stored over cloud and therefore, it is not required for the patients to maintain complex hardware. The health record system can be acces sed by different digital devices such as mobile, tablets, PCs and notebooks (Charles, Gabriel Furukawa, 2013). The system will provide 24*7 connectivity to the health records and the associated medication services. With a user-friendly interface, it is expected that the system will be adopted by many patients. It will further be beneficial to the patient of rural areas who are not able to receive proper medication services due to geographical distance. Therefore, it can be said that the system is capable of revolutionizing the way of providing medical services to the patients (DesRoches et al., 2013). Benefits The benefits of implementing the My Health Record system are as follows- My Health Record system will provide a better access to the health care information to the patients and the physicians. This is possible as the healthcare information of the patients is available at one place and is accessible online. The new system will no doubt provide a better security and will improve the safety in storing the health information online over manual record keeping (Bowman, 2013). It is more convenient to use a digital health record system as the patient of the physician do not need to memorise the health history such as medicinal history, details of chronic condition and recent tests. It will provide the much needed privacy by safeguarding the information by proper authentication control and encryption. Conclusion After analysing the problems capabilities and the benefits of the My Health Record system, it can be concluded that it is essential to implement the system in order to improve the quality of providing services to the patients and in reducing the rate of hospital admission. This system is safe and secure to be implemented and therefore the project should be initiated as soon as possible. References Bowman, S. (2013). On Quake, Marilyn Manson, Doom, The Matrix, And How They Corrupt America's Youth Disclaimer: I do not promote youth violence, but even if I did, it's the parent's job to make sure my opinion doesn't affect their children. Do I really have to say anything else? The disclaimer say enough, but to drive my point across, I'll repeat it in several different ways in the next few paragraphs. First of all, I want to say that I am 100% against censorship. It totally goes against a little law called THE 1ST AMENDMENT! And as for pressuring the movie, music, television and video game industries into producing cleaner content goes, we do need some of that. But I must say, ratings aren't there because companies put them there for fun. For each of the above mentioned, there are rating and parental advisory systems. If you need a little refreshment on what they are, write me and I'll send you a copy of them. But that really isn't necessary considering that: every single movie you've ever seen has its rating on the box, on the posters, on the ticket, next to it in your TV guide, and sometimes shows it nice and big right before the movie; every single CD or cassette you have bought in the last few years, if it contained what was deemed inappropriate material for people under 18, had a warning label on the packaging; all TV shows now show a rating at the top of your screen at the beginning of the program and after commercials, and ratings are also listed with the title in TV listings; every video game you 've bought since the second phase of Super Nintendo games has a rating on the packaging and on the game itself. So booya if you say there's no way of knowing if the material is inappropriate for your kid or not! Wise up and pay attention! I know what you're saying, ?The ratings are there, but who is deciding these ratings and what sort of standards are they using The people who decide this stuff aren't idiots. They judge the content of every line in the film, making note of every curse word, sexual reference, and violent suggestion. Sometimes they screw up and leave out a little detail, or don't recognize the offensive reference because of the way a line is used or the modern language used. Some examples: ? On Nickelodeon, there was a character on ?All That? who sat in a bathtub with a rubber duck and wore a yellow rain hat. He would say things like ? Do you want to squeeze my ducky? and make references to monkeys a lot. I couldn't believe this was even on Nickelodeon, much less rated TV Y. ? The review panel may not recognize ?roll up a fatty? or another modern term as a drug reference. ? Mufasa's death in ?The Lion King? did not cause the movie to receive a PG rating because the battle scene towards the end of the movie (in which another character dies) was deemed suitable, and so therefore Mufasa's death was also suitable. Those are only specifics, but I have seen a few cartoons I didn't think were for the younger crowd because of the violence or situations the characters were faced with. So here's the solution to safe-guarding your kids if you think ratings don't help enough: watch the show or movie with them, listen to the music before you give it to them, and find out what a game is about before you buy it. Lastly, PAY MORE ATTENTION TO YOUR KIDS!!! Just because we are teenagers and you think we are pretty grown up doesn't mean we won't be affected by the stuff we are exposed to. It also doesn't mean that we always make the best decisions concerning what we watch, listen to, or play. Lastly, if you don't notice that your child is building bombs in your basement, he should blow YOU up. At least then the problem will be half solved. The Lord of The Flies â⬠English Essay
The Lord of The Flies ââ¬â English Essay Free Online Research Papers The Lord of The Flies English Essay There could be many factors contributed to the boyââ¬â¢s destruction of society on the island. But, the main factors are proven in three of the many themes. The struggle for power between Ralph and Jack led to destruction of the island because power can be either used or abused. The dark side of human nature can also contribute because it is the evil in people that brings out the worst in them. Finally the fear of the unknown also led to destruction because what people fear can cause them to do things that can cause harm or hurt to others or themselves. In the novel, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding the struggle for power, the dark side of human nature, and the fear of the unknown all contribute to the destruction of the boyââ¬â¢s makeshift society on the island. To begin with, the constant battle for power ultimately leads to the breakdown of society on the island. The first instance of the struggle for power is between Ralph and Jack. This is shown clearly when Jack says ââ¬Å"Heââ¬â¢s not a hunter. Heââ¬â¢d never got us meat. He isnââ¬â¢t perfect and we donââ¬â¢t know anything about him. He just gives orders and expects people to obey him for nothing. All this talk- ââ¬Å"(Golding,140). This quote illustrates the back and forth battle between Ralph and Jack. They both share common differences which contradict each other. One might want one thing while the other would want another, this would make it difficult on the group as they would have to choose which person to follow. Secondly, Jacks craving for power also leads to the breakdown of society when Jack states ââ¬Å"Who thinks Ralph oughtnââ¬â¢t to be chief, hands up, whoever wants Ralph not to be chief?â⬠(140). This quote shows how Jack is in constant need of pow er and how is always attempting to take power from the chief, Ralph. He believes that the strongest should rule with brute force and therefore he should be chief. Also, by taking the power from Ralph he believes that there will be no more interference as Ralph could be the only one to oppose him. Jack tries to use authoritian power to try and gain control. Lastly, Jacks persistent battle with Ralph to gain control and be chief and lead the tribe is demonstrated when Jack says ââ¬Å"Listen all of you. Me and my hunters are living along the beach at the flat rock. We hunt and feast and have fun. If you want to join come and see us. Perhaps weââ¬â¢ll let you join. Perhaps notâ⬠(155). In this instance, after jack is turned down for leader in the original tribe leaves to create his own tribe thus leaving the group demolished. He believes that the tribe Ralph is leading is not proper and he is the only chief on the island. To end off with, the craving and struggle for power ultim ately lead to the destruction of society the boys created on the island. To start off with, the darkness of the human heart can also be blamed for destruction of society on the island. Firstly, the boys start off as innocent boys looking for rescue but later turn dark as proven in the quote ââ¬Å"The afternoon wore on, hazy and dreadful with damp heat; The sow staggered her way ahead of them, bleeding and mad, the hunters followed wedded to her in lust. Excited by the long chase and the dropped blood.â⬠. This quote shows the boys dark thirst for blood. Later in the novel the boys completely dismiss their old values by constantly killing. Even the courageous leader Ralph has his hand at killing. All this killing shows how the darkness of humans can be shown. Also, the boys show darkness again in the killing of Simon ââ¬Å"At once the crowd surged after it, poured down the rock and leaped on the beast, screamed, struck, bit, tore. There were no words, no movements but the tearing of teeth and claws.â⬠(168). The darkest act of the boys is the kil ling of Simon because all the boys can be blamed for his death not just a few. This diminishes all that is good and proper on the island. Simon is sacrificed to stop darkness just as Jesus was. Finally, the boys darkness is proven again in the killing of the wise Piggy shown in this quote ââ¬Å"Piggys arms and legs twitched a bit, like a pigs after its been killed. Then the sea breathed again, in a long, slow sigh, the water boiled white and pink over the rock and when it went back again, sucking in, the body of piggy was gone.â⬠(200) To Justify, the selfishness that comes along with the darkness lead to the death of the rational thinking on the island. The darkness that was shown in piggys killing is at the point of the novel where all the boys except Ralph are savages. The savagery of the boys shows how dark the human soul can become. The evil that comes along with the darkness of human nature and the deaths of simon and piggy help lead to destruction of society. International Trade Operations - Latvia Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
International Trade Operations - Latvia - Essay Example plained that a country will export the goods and services that it is able to produce at a lower opportunity cost and import those goods and services that it would otherwise produce a higher opportunity cost (Pugel, 2003, p. 39). Eli Heckscher, a Swedish economist, developed the core idea in 1919 about the international trade pattern. According to him, a country would export the products that use its abundant factors intensively and import the products that use its scarce factors intensively (Pugel, 2003, p. 39). To be more succinct, as Fedotovs (2010, p. 52) noted, a country will export goods whose production is intensive in factors that the country is abundantly endowed. Fedotovs (2010) explained international trade patterns of Latvia, based on the evidences of Latviaââ¬â¢s access to European Union and related how both the theories, comparative advantage and Heckscher-Ohlin theorem explain the case of Latvia. His work has proved the validity of both the theories and concluded that both the theories can be said to be applicable to the case of Latvia. A comparison between the major sectors of minibuses, cement, timber and Livestock etc of both Latvia and European Community, it can be observed that Latvia could claim to have comparative advantage in some areas despite the fact it lagged behind the EC. The productivity of Latvia in some sectors like milk, livestock, grain and meat has proved 17 to 25 times below the level of EC, and same time the productivity in some other sectors were found to be only 5 to 6 times less, and therefore, it can be explained with the theory of comparative advantage. Fedotovs (2010) has given Timber as an example for Latviaââ¬â¢s export to European Market, because Latvia gained comparative advantage in producing timbers as the productivity ratio to other countries was higher than in other industries. Between the periods of 1920s and 1930s, timber was the major export of Latvia and, during this period, the market share of timber has been
